THE REAL STORY

To provide a biography of who I am and how Real came to be real could take hours. The abbreviated version is this:

When I was nothing more than a little girl with pig tails God placed a dream in my heart for world missions. Then, struggles of life broke me and that dream was shattered. But God…

God placed another dream in my heart to earn a PhD. I believed that pursuing my education would be my ticket into world missions, and that my path to ministry would be unconventional. My area of expertise and research is instructional design for online learning and I am confident that this technology can be used to spread the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth. After finishing my PhD and not being immediately launched into a hut in a third world country, I began to believe that my dreams for world missions may never happen. But God...

God redefined world missions for me. God’s plan for me interlaces my quest for knowledge, my nerdy writing skills, my instructional design expertise, and my heart for global missions in a unique way which allows me to share the Gospel differently and missionally. Through prayer, I knew that my next step towards missions was to start a blog on April 10, 2020. I began building a blog space, and then I got busy with other tasks of life. Busy was a great excuse because I didn’t really want to start a blog anyway. What would I write? What if I couldn’t maintain it? What if no one read it? Or worse, what if people did read it? I put the blog aside.

The COIV-19 pandemic struck the world by surprise. It appeared that discouragement and sadness had settled on everyone. I had a nagging feeling reminding me that the world needs Good News and that my next step towards world missions was to start a blog. Finally, less than two weeks before April 10, 2020, I looked at the calendar and it was then that I realized April 10, 2020 was Good Friday. With full knowledge that God’s timing is always right, I started writing. I still have all of the same fears. What will I write? What if I can’t maintain it? What if no one reads it? Or worse, what if people do read it? But, when you know God’s in the dream, you chase it! Ready or not.

Welcome to my blog. I can’t promise much but I can guarantee that I am real, sometimes raw, and always trying to pursue God. My mistakes are too many to even count, but the grace of God is even greater. I plan to use this blog space to be real and to share my pursuit of Christ with those who stumble upon this site. So grab a cup of coffee, and let’s explore the Bible, pursue Christ, and live life together.

Cheers to you,

Kym
